Chosen after a first long race, more often than not
The women's cut of this design sells hardest in the weeks after autumn marathon season, which tells you who buys it: somebody who has just done a distance they were not sure about, or somebody who watched them do it.
Four widths, AISI 304 stainless steel. If it is a present for a first marathon, do not buy the smallest — one medal now is usually four within two years.
A first marathon medal on its own looks better on a rail than on a hook, because a rail does not advertise the empty spaces beside it.
This medal hanger is produced in the widths below. If you are buying it as a gift, size on the collection they already have rather than on what looks right on the wall.
Size & capacity
| Size | Steel | 1 rail | 2 rails | 3 rails |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 35 x 8 cm | 2.5 mm | 8-12 | 15-22 | 20-30 |
| 45 x 8 cm | 2.5 mm | 13-20 | 24-36 | 34-50 |
| 60 x 11 cm | 3 mm | 21-30 | 38-55 | 55-75 |
| 75 x 11.5 cm | 3 mm | 31-45 | 55-80 | 75-110 |
Not sure which size?
First marathon? Do not buy the 35. Within two years most people wish they had taken the 60.
Made from one sheet, not assembled from parts
The medal holder is laser-cut from a single piece of AISI 304 stainless steel, 2.5-3 mm thick depending on the width. Nothing welded on, nothing to come loose.
Medals hang on a continuous rail rather than individual hooks, so you're limited by the width of the bar and nothing else.
Putting it up
The standoffs hold it a centimetre off the wall, which is what gives the shadow line. Template, screws and plugs are included; you need a drill and ten minutes.
Running out of room
Buy a second and line it up directly beneath or beside this one — the proportions are designed so a pair looks intentional. The widest version holds up to 110 medals across three rails.
Getting it to you
This medal holder is made to order in the EU and on its way within 3–5 working days, with fourteen days to send it back if it isn't right.
