Two numbers that need no explanation

To anyone outside running, 13.1 and 26.2 are just decimals. To anyone inside it, they are the two distances that organise a decade — the first half, the first full, and everything measured against both afterwards.

This is the mile version of the design, cut for runners who count that way. The medals themselves are heavy, so the wider sizes use 3 mm stainless steel rather than 2.5, and the widest carries up to 110 across three rails.

Half marathon medals outnumber full ones by roughly five to one in most collections, so the display fills faster than the distance on it suggests.

Why stainless steel, not painted sheet metal

The medal hanger is cut from AISI 304 stainless steel (V2A / 1.4301), 2.5-3 mm thick depending on the width. Not painted sheet metal that chips at the first knock.

And it holds a continuous rail, not hooks. Twelve hooks means twelve medals. A rail holds as many as fit.

Putting it up

The standoffs hold it a centimetre off the wall, which is what gives the shadow line. Template, screws and plugs are included; you need a drill and ten minutes.

After the first one is full

They're made to pair. A second unit sits flush against the first and the run reads as a single display. The widest version holds up to 110 medals across three rails.
